Palm Grove Section - Tamborine National Park

The Palm Grove section of Tamborine National Park protects a lush pocket of subtropical rainforest on Tamborine Mountain's eastern escarpment. At the heart of this reserve is a 2.4-kilometre circuit walk that winds through dense stands of piccabeen palms – their slender trunks rising like columns beneath the rainforest canopy. The walking track is well-maintained and relatively easy-going, making it accessible for most fitness levels, though the loop does include some moderate inclines and uneven sections typical of rainforest terrain.

Visitors follow the circuit through layered vegetation where staghorn ferns cling to mossy tree trunks and the forest floor is thick with native gingers and ground covers. Creek crossings and the occasional glimpse through the canopy toward the coastal plains add variety to the walk. The Palm Grove section is quieter than some of Tamborine's more popular walking areas, and regulars appreciate the sense of immersion it offers – the track feels genuinely surrounded by forest rather than running alongside roads or development.
