Cameron Falls Section - Tamborine National Park

The Cameron Falls Section protects a patch of rainforest on Tamborine Mountain where the centrepiece is a scenic waterfall tucked into lush subtropical growth. The walk to the falls is a proper bushwalk rather than a short stroll — the 5.6-kilometre return track threads through tall palm groves, tree ferns and pockets of open eucalypt forest before reaching the cascade. The falls themselves drop over a moss-edged rock face into a shallow pool surrounded by dense greenery, creating a peaceful spot well away from the plateau's busier picnic areas.

Walkers often praise the variety of vegetation along the track and the sense of immersion you get once you're beneath the canopy. The trail involves some elevation change and can be muddy after rain, so sturdy footwear is recommended. Because the walk is longer and less developed than some of Tamborine's other sections, it tends to attract fewer crowds, especially on weekdays. Birdwatchers regularly note the calls of whipbirds and catbirds echoing through the gullies, and the cooler microclimate near the falls provides welcome relief on warm days.
