The Polish Place

The Polish Place served as Tamborine Mountain's celebrated European restaurant for four decades before closing its restaurant operations in September 2023. Founded by Phil and Ania, this established institution became renowned for authentic Polish cuisine drawn from family recipes, including its signature Roast Duck for Two, pork hock, pierogi, and bigos. The restaurant earned multiple accolades during its tenure, including Best Specialty Restaurant in 2020 and Best European Restaurant on the Gold Coast three years running. Though the dining room burned down on New Year's Eve 2016, it was rebuilt and reopened in 2019 before closing permanently on its fortieth anniversary.

While the restaurant no longer operates, The Polish Place continues as an accommodation venue with five self-contained cottages designed for couples. The property sits on a clifftop location surrounded by nature, offering 180-degree westward views across the Great Dividing Range. Guests staying in the cottages receive breakfast baskets and can enjoy the abundant birdlife, including rainbow lorikeets known for joining visitors at mealtime. Over its long history, regulars rated the hearty Polish fare and Ania's homemade desserts, particularly the rum chocolate torte, as memorable highlights of the mountain dining scene.
